Terms of Use for This Reference
What this site is, what it is not, and the limits of everything published here.
This is not investment advice
Everything published here is educational material about how technical indicators are calculated and what they do and do not measure. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, and nothing is tailored to any individual's circumstances, objectives or risk tolerance. No page here constitutes financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and reading it establishes no advisory relationship.
Trading and investing involve the risk of losing money, including more than the amount initially committed where leverage is used. Past behaviour of any indicator, pattern or market is not a reliable guide to its future behaviour, a point most of these pages make about their own subject matter, and one that applies to the site as a whole.
No signals, no products, nothing for sale
There is nothing to buy here. This site sells no subscriptions, no alerts, no signal service, no course and no software, and it holds no affiliate arrangements with brokers or data providers. If you encounter a page appearing to sell something in this site's name, it is not this site.
Accuracy, and the figures on this site
The formulas are stated as their authors published them, and the intermediate values in the calculators are shown precisely so that you can check them rather than trust them. Even so, errors are possible, and any figure taken from here should be verified against a primary source before it informs a decision that matters.
Two conventions are used throughout and are worth knowing. Charts labelled schematic use illustrative data, generated to show the shape of a behaviour, and are never a record of a real market. Historical statistics (depths of declines, recovery times) are rounded and attributed to the specific index they describe, because the same episode produces very different numbers on different indices.
Content and reuse
The text, charts and diagrams on this site are its own work. Quoting a short passage or a single figure with a link back is welcome and needs no permission. Republishing pages wholesale, or reproducing the diagrams as your own, is not.
Indicator names are used descriptively. Where a method is associated with a named author (Wilder, Appel, Swenlin, Altman, McClellan) the attribution is stated on the page concerned and implies no endorsement in either direction.
External links
Links to other sites are provided as references. This site does not control their content and does not vouch for it, and no link here is an affiliate or tracking link.
Limitation
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind as to accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here. If you disagree with these terms, the appropriate response is not to use the site.
