The Amex Oil Index (XOI) represent a sector of corporations involved in various phases of the oil industry - exploration, production, and development of petroleum. The XOI Index was established with a benchmark value of 125.00 on August 27, 1984 and designed to track solely the progress of the oil-stock sector. The crude oil is one of the most important economic commodities in the US today.
